Meet Rosa Bellaboni, Honeysuckle Home Care's much-loved office dog and loyal companion to the team. Throughout September, Rosa is taking part in the 'Walk a Mile a Day' challenge to raise money for Dementia UK. With her hoomans by her side, Rosa will be walking a total of 30 miles this month, exploring the local community and spreading awareness for an incredibly important cause.
Why We're Walking for Dementia UK
Dementia affects many of the families Honeysuckle Home Care supports, so when the 'Walk a Mile a Day in September' challenge came up, Rosa knew she had to join in. Always eager for her daily walks, Rosa is delighted to be part of this fundraising event, making new friends, and of course, enjoying some well-deserved head pats and cuddles along the way.
"Hi, I’m Rosa Bellaboni, but you can call me Rosa! I’ve been with the Honeysuckle team since I was a pup, and I love visiting the office every day to greet everyone who stops by. I’m walking 30 miles this month to raise money for Dementia UK, and I’d love for you to join me. If you’d like to donate, please visit our Just Giving page or visit the Honeysuckle Facebook page for updates." - Rosa Bellaboni
Rosa's Adventures So Far
Rosa has already completed several walks, stopping by local spots, meeting new faces, and spreading joy wherever she goes. Here's a look at what she's been up to:
Day 1: Rosa strolled around Hilmarton, even stopping at The Duke for a refreshing break (her hoomans enjoyed a shandy while Rosa got plenty of attention from passers-by). She also visited the local school to greet some of the children.
Day 2: Rosa explored Royal Wootton Bassett, sniffing her way past local bakeries and seeing lots of smiley faces. In the evening, she met up with her brother Hugo for a longer walk around Lyneham, where they both live. After a busy day, Rosa napped soundly in the office.
Day 3: Out and about in the community, Rosa made new friends at J Rouse & Son, The Cross Keys Inn, and The Crown Hotel, where she enjoyed cuddles with both managers. She’s already become quite the local celebrity!
Day 4: On Wednesday, Rosa visited Ruby & Dexters to pick up some yummy treats (she highly recommends stopping by). Thursday was a bit of a rainy day, but that didn’t stop Rosa from paying her respects at the Royal Wootton Bassett War Memorial.
Weekend Fun: Over the weekend, Rosa enjoyed running around the fields with her hoomans, finding plenty of big sticks to carry around. Her nanny wasn’t too pleased with the mess Rosa made when she brought them home to chew on, but Rosa had the best time!
More Walks and Local Visits: Rosa's autumnal walks have taken her to local businesses like Shelley Rust, Doyle's Barbershop, and Jo Jo's Cafe, where she was lucky enough to score a tasty sausage. She even visited Bassett Bakery but, sadly, didn’t get a haircut at the barbershop!
How You Can Help
Rosa’s walks are not just about exercise and adventure- they’re about raising money for Dementia UK, a charity close to our hearts here at Honeysuckle Home Care. Dementia UK provides specialist support for families affected by dementia, helping them navigate the challenges of living with this condition.
If you’d like to support Rosa in her mission, you can donate via her JustGiving page.
